Garden Prep for Winter: Compost, Leaf Mulch, and Plant Markers

In this video, I walk you through my 3 simple steps for preparing my garden beds for the Winter season. I start by adding a layer of composted cow manure to my garden beds. This will help to improve the soil. Next, I add a layer of leaf mulch on top of the compost. This will help to keep the soil moist and protect my plants, plus provide nutrients to the soil as the leaves break down. Finally, I mark any plants that die all the way back during the Winter with plant markers. This will help me to remember where they are in the Spring.
