While practicing how to play the cymbals we recommended that you sing a hymn aloud to help you keep the pace and the beat of the instrument while singing.

The basic pattern consists of:
Up Down, Up Down, Middle,
Up Down, Up Down, Middle
(repeat)

The technique shown in this video is one of many. Once comfortable with the basic beat one can improvise and add their own twist to the beat while keeping the basic rhythm.
