Art Chase | Chronicling Culture Within a Walled Village

Описание к видео Art Chase | Chronicling Culture Within a Walled Village

Can art preserve the soul of a community?

Join us on a visit to the studio of artist Tang Kwok-hin, located in Wing Lung Wai, a walled village in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Tang’s artwork is remarkable for its intricate attention to detail, which captures his close-knit community’s everyday life, customs, and rhythms. Through pieces like ‘The Lonely Island’ and ‘Mount Huaguo and a Mother of Three Children’, Tang blends mythology, technology, and personal experiences, creating a visual dialogue that reflects, amongst other things, the complex tapestry of life in his community.

As we observe Tang’s contemporary artistic practice, we not only witness his approach to artmaking but also his efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of his home.
