this is my Simbot, Danette, inventing another Simbot, Daisy. I got the first one through the My Best Friend Lifetime Reward for 40,000 lifetime happiness points. The second one required 1 palladium (ore or smelted would work), 1 heart-shaped cut pink diamond, 100 units of scrap and 10 life fruit. Here is exactly what i did to get them:

easier way: lifetime reward method (first one):
all I had to do was save up 40,000 lifetime happiness points, go to "purchase rewards" and then scroll down until i got to "My Best Friend". The only catch was that it was a bit rusty. It did not let me choose the gender.

harder way: opportunity chain method (second one):
first, I got Danette (the first simbot) to master the inventing skill. Then, I got another sim to level 7 in the gardening skill. I then found an "unknown special seed" at the graveyard, planted it, and eventually it grew into a life plant which produces life fruit (one of the ingredients of a simbot). for the palladium i built a miner and drilled until i found a piece. I got the heart-shaped cut pink diamond from the buy n' bargain consignment shop. And the 100 units of scrap was just sitting in my inventory. a few sim weeks later, Danette got a phone call that got her the opportunity that started the opportunity chain to get a simbot. The first opportunity will make you go down to the science lab and deliver the 10 life fruit. since I had all of the ingredients in my inventory, the opportunities appeared back-to-back and i could do them immediately. once i finished delivering all of the ingredients, the science lab gave me a "life core" which allowed me to make the simbot. When i finished inventing the simbot (which takes a mighty longer time than a normal invention), it gave me the option to release it to the wild (not control it) or adopt it (control it). I, once again, was not allowed to choose the gender, but i can choose the gender every subsequent time i invent another simbot. It came out shinier than a purchased simbot.
