The kids and their friends are singing an extremely popular Bengali chora song everyone knows as “Aye brishti jhepe dhan debo mepe.” The song is a humorous depiction of a prank that is often played on a Bengali groom by his in-laws. As is customary during the nuptial proceedings, members of the bride’s family offer grain to the groom as a token of appreciation. However, this ritual often transforms into a hilarious exercise as the bride’s family members use this opportunity to pull harmless pranks on the unsuspecting groom. One such prank is to give a bowlful of grain infested with insects to the unwitting groom.
