How do we do microneedling here at MD Needle Pen? Check out the techniques we use in these videos. 4 passes total; horizontal, vertical, and crosshatch. Overlap with 25-50% on each pass so you know that you have covered the section and area well.
Treat in smaller sections, around 2x2 inch squares, before moving to the next "square". Be consistent, and thorough do not jump around from side to side, instead "snake" around (like shown in the videos) until the entire area is completed.
When it comes to these areas, make sure to go close to the lip line, but NOT on the lips. When treating the upper lip, glide the pen only vertically and horizontally. When gliding vertically, only do a one-way motion, down from the nose towards your lip, but not in the opposite direction (lip towards the nose) if you do so, you can easily catch on to the lip on the way up and the person you are doing the treatment on will not be very happy as it hurts a lot. That can also cause them to start bleeding from the lip, the lip may also swell and bruise.
For the nose, I usually stay away from the bridge but do the sides, nostrils, and tip. Going in an "out-downward" motion when it comes to the sides, I call it the "Christmas Tree" motion, if you think about the tree branch how they look like. I follow around in nostrils so I get into all the groves there, and stack on the tip.
Use enough gliding agents so the pen glides easily over the treatment area. Hold the skin taught for better control and for more comfort for your patient. This is especially important with patients who have skin laxity.
