Chef Rafi introduces us to the Philippine Super Plant (Malunggay or Horseradish Plant), using both the leaves and fruit in this recipe. The nutritional value of this vegetable is amazing and many Filipinos believe it cures cancer. He uses it in a humble, very homely Ilocano sweet potato soup called "Buridibud" mixed with alukon flowers (worm-like vegetables similar to birch pods) and kardis (pigeon peas). You'll see this dish consumed heartily in the Ilocano diet, but never in restaurants.
