Paul Rodriguez starts his career on Kareem Campbell’s brand City Stars, and goes pro at the same time as Mikey Taylor. Before his pro board is released, P Rod makes the move to Girl Skateboards after being invited by Eric Koston. Then, P rod makes another move to the relaunched brand Plan B, under Danny Way.

P Rod announces his departure from Plan B, when he starts skating on spray painted Gold boards at Street League. After selling limited series of gold boards for a time through the Berrics, P-Rod starts Primitive Skateboards in 2014 with Heath Brinkley. P-Rod is the only pro on Primitive at the time, and his friends Nick Tucker and Carlos Ribeiro.

Over the years, the Primitive team has been stacked, with riders such as Trent McClung, Robert Neal, Devine Calloway, Franki Villani, Marek Zaprazny, Brian Peacock, Giovanni Vianna, Wade Desarmo, Spencer Hamilton, Miles Silvas, Tiago Lemos, Bastien Salabanzi, JB Gillet, and Tre Williams.

With this stacked squad, they’ve put out videos like Never, Rome, Fourth Quarter, Encore & tons of tour videos.

P Rod is also quite the business man, having been a part of the hyper-succesful St Archer’s Brewery, and leveraging his skateboard career with brands like Target, At&t, Mcdonalds, Nike, and Mountain Dew.

Later, in 2018, Shane O’neill announces that he will be leaving Primitive to start his own brand, April Skateboards. He puts together a team of Yuto Horigome, Yosef Ratleff, O’Neill, Noah Nayef, Nathan Jackson, Ish Cepeda, Kai Kishi, Johnny Tang and Ronnie Kessner.
