DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH !
English Learning is not over without learning and having some fair knowledge about the direct and indirect speech, it's rules, tenses changes, pronoun changes, time and place changes etc.

Basically will will use direct and indirect speech to convey the speech of somebody that we heard.
WE USE DIRECT SPEECH : To say the actual words of the speeker without changing anything. we basically use quotation marks to show that in writing.

Ex : They said," We play on the ground now".

While in Indirect speech we will not say the actual words said by the speeker we will change tense, pronouns, time and place etc.
ex : They said that they played on the ground then.


NOTE: In DIRECT SPEECH We divide the sentence into two
as Reporting speech and reporting speech.
we basically change the Reported Speech only.

ex : They said,"We play on the ground now".

in this example - They said, - Is Reporting Speech will not be changed
" We play on the ground now ". - is Reported speech , this part only will be changed.

Indirect speech also called as Reported Speech - For more details,

PRONOUN changes like

I - me
we - they
etc

TENSE CHANGES
Present into past
past into past perfect
past perfect into past perfect ( no change)
etc.
