Bausatzbesprechung: Italeri "Semovente da 75/18 M42" im Maßstab 1/35

Was auf dem ersten Blick wie die X-te Wiederauflage der guten alten Semovente aus dem Jahr 1973 erscheint, entpuppt sich bei genauerem Hinsehen als ein zumindest teilweise neuer Bausatz der M42 Variante, die es bisher aus Plastik nicht gab. Da lohnt es sich doch, sich den Bausatz mal näher anzusehen!
Auf der Schachtel prangt zwar das Label "top kit - new moulds", also "Top Bausatz - neue Fomen", aber das stimmt leider nicht so ganz, denn Italeri hat auf einige alte Spritzlinge zurückgegriffen, die durch einige neue Spritzlinge ergänzt wurden. Mengenmäßig würde ich schätzen, dass ungefähr 50% des Bausatzes tatsächlich neu ist. Aus diesem Grund finde ich es nicht so gut, dass der Bausatz mit so einer irreführenden Aufschrift versehen ist.
Die neuen Spritzlinge umfassen Teile für eine neue Wanne, Inneneinrichtung des Kampfraums und ein neues Motordeck, sowie eine kleine Platine mit Photo-Ätzteilen. Für das Fahrwerk, die Ketten, die Kasematte und die Haubitze kommen die alten Bauteile zur Verwendung.
Prinzipiell habe ich nichts gegen so eine ökonomische Bausatzvariante, aber es wäre dennoch sehr wünschenswert gewesen, wenn die beiden schlechtesten Komponenten, nämlich die Gummiketten und die wirklich schon alberne Haubitze, nicht einfach übernommen worden wären. Gerade hier hätte sich eine zeitgemäße Überarbeitung wirklich gelohnt!
Dennoch, die neuen Teile, die wir hier bekommen, sind wirklich schön gemacht und vor allem der neue Kampfraum macht einiges her. Auch ein Großteil der alten Teile aus dem Jahr 1973 machen auch heute keine schlechte Figur, wie etwa die Laufwerksrollen oder die Nietköpfe auf der Kasematte. Trotzdem wird man das Gefühl nicht los, dass man es sich hier bei Italeri doch etwas zu einfach gemacht hat, da wäre einfach mehr drin gewesen!
Preislich liegt der Bausatz ungefähr bei 32€, was natürlich der allgemeinen Preispolitik am Markt entspricht, aber man wird wohl kaum darum herumkommen, mindestens den selben Betrag in neue Ketten und ein neues Kanonenrohr zu stecken. Schade, dass es so ist, aber die Liebhaber italienischer Fahrzeuge aus dem WK2 können jetzt immerhin eine Semovente M42 bauen. Das ist ja auch schon etwas wert finde ich.

What appears to be only another of the many re-releases of the good old Semovente from the year 1973, actually turns out as an at least partially new kit of the M42 version when we give it a second look, a version that has not been available as a plastic model kit before. Therefore it is a reasonable measure to have a closer look at this kit!
On the box lid we find the label "top kit - new moulds", but that is actually not entirely true, because Italeri based this kit on the old sprues and added a couple of newly designed sprues. When it comes to the acutal volume of the kit i think that about 50% of the kit is actually new. Because of that i don´t like the misleading label on the box.
The new sprues contain parts for a new lower hull, interior ofr the crew compartment and a new engine deck, as well as a small photo-etch fret. For the suspension, the tracks, the casemate and the howitzer we use the parts of the old sprues.
I have nothing against such an economic new kit variant, but in my opinion it would have been very important to also rework the two worst components of the kit a bit as well, namely the rubber band tracks and the really silly looking howitzer. For these two components an improvement actually makes the most sense!
Anyway, the new parts we get here are really well made and the new crew compartment is great in particular. Even the majority of the old parts from 1973 are not bad by modern standards, like the bogie or the rivets on the casemate. Still, one gets the feeling that Italeri kept it all a bit too simple, i think we can expect a bit more!
The price tag of the kit is about 32€, which conforms with the general price policy of the market, but you won´t be able to avoid spending at least the same amount of money on new tracks and a decent gun barrel. That is a shame, but at least the fans of Italian vehicles from WW2 can finally build a Semovente M42. I think that is worth some appreciation at least.
