(0:00) I'm Dr Graham Bright, Head of Compliance and Operations at Euro Exim Bank. (0:05) Recently we've been doing a lot of work with Africa. Africa is a very specific continent, (0:10) not only the largest on the planet, where you could almost absorb Russia, United States, China (0:17) and many other countries inside the land area.
But here there are 54 countries, 850 banks, (0:25) 1.2 billion people, millions of SMEs, and specifically looking at very critical raw (0:34) materials in those areas. By 2050 there will be 2.4 billion people in Africa, (0:42) the largest population of any continent on the planet. And yet, continentally, (0:48) Africa only supports up to 18-20% of all imports and exports around the world.
(0:57) Our challenge, our opportunity is working with countries in Africa, (1:02) with the Africa Free Trade Agreement as well, to make sure that they can take advantage (1:08) by using alternative methods of financing, making sure collateral is in the right place, (1:15) making sure their markets are right and the supply chains work in this very dynamic market today.
