Measuring the effect of new capabilities on soldier lethality

Описание к видео Measuring the effect of new capabilities on soldier lethality

The Soldier Weapon and Equipment Assessment Tool (SWEAT) aims to quantify the effects of future soldier capabilities – such as new weapons systems, boots, helmets or body armour – on an individual’s lethality. SWEAT combines various components, including lethality, survivability and mobility, into an obstacle course that comprehensively tests soldiers and systems. Developed as part of an activity by the NATO STO System Analysis and Studies (SAS) Panel, the course uses SAAB’s Instrumented Metricised Live Fire (IMLF) system to collect data on the accuracy and timing of soldiers’ shooting. The ultimate aim of the activity (SAS-145) is to have SWEAT developed into a NATO standard that will allow other Nations to develop similar trials to meet their own needs, while also enabling interoperability across the Alliance.
