Here's a rare and definitive reading of "The Ides of March" the first of the series of short stories written by E W Hornung about Raffles the Gentleman Burglar. Hornung was the brother in law of Arthur Conan Doyle the author of Sherlock Holmes and invented Raffles a sort of inversion of Holmes as a criminal. In the Sherlock Holmes stories Holmes does occasionally use breaking and entering skills in pursuit of solving mysteries, but Raffles uses them for nefarious purposes. Actually Raffles seems to me to be a much more fun character than Holmes. These readings from rare audio tapes in my collection are by far the best readings of these stories I have ever heard so here's the first of many to come.

The Amateur Cracksman was the original short story collection by E. W. Hornung featuring his most famous character, A. J. Raffles, a gentleman thief in late Victorian Great Britain. It was first published in 1899. The book was very well received and spawned three follow-ups: two more short story collections, The Black Mask (1901) and A Thief in the Night (1904), as well as a full-length novel, Mr. Justice Raffles in 1909.
