Australia Visa Options - 10,000 Western Australia Visas from 01 July 2024

Another good news for people looking to migrate to Australia!

Starting from 1 July 2024, Western Australia now has a new state-wide Designated Area Migration Agreement, also known as DAMA. This new DAMA, along with the existing State Nominated Migration Program, will allow up to 10,000 overseas workers to settle in WA each year. This will help address critical workforce shortages in the state.

WA employers can still access occupations and concessions from existing regional DAMAs. But with the new WA DAMA, employers will have access to an even broader list of occupations and concessions.

Now, let's look at the key features of WA DAMAs.

There are now four DAMAs in WA. These DAMAs help businesses in Western Australia that can't find qualified Australians for certain roles. They can now sponsor skilled migrants through three visa pathways:

Temporary Skills Shortage visa (subclass 482)
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional provisional visa (subclass 494)
Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186)
What kind of occupations are in high demand?

The list is very long, so we can't cover all of them in this video. But here are some examples:

What other concessions do these DAMAs offer?

Many applicants are just short of getting a 6 in each section of the IELTS exam. Usually, under the general skilled migration program, the English language requirement for most skills is 6. But the good news is, one of the key concessions in this DAMA is the English language requirement. It is now IELTS 5.0 or equivalent. Great news!

Age is another issue. Under the General Skilled Migration program, you must be 45 years or younger. These DAMAs provide an age concession as well. The age limit for visa applicants is increased from 45 to 55 years.
