Due to disk problems in my back, basses weighing 9lbs or more cause pain during gigs. I spoke with Mica at Alembic about options to reduce the weight of my 2 Stanley Clarke basses (a 2004 Brown Bass weighing 9 lbs 2 ounces, and a 2007 coco bolo wood Signature Deluxe weighing 10 lbs 8 ounces). Here is a look at what I did to the Brown Bass (replaced the tuners, brass back plate and brass bridge block) using direct replacements so the no modification to the bass was needed and the parts can easily be swapped back. The Brown bass now weight just 7 lbs 14 ounces.
