Hey everyone and I’m back with the return back to Inwood-207 St. Going down to Lefferts, I explained how I found out about the shutdown. And I can remind you guys what it will mean here. From the late night hours of January 17 to May 19, (A) Train service will be suspended between Howard Beach-JFK and Far Rockaway-Mott Av due to major repairs to the South Channel Bridge, which carries the (A) Train and the Rockaway (S) Shuttle Train over Jamaica Bay. It was severely damaged in Hurricane Sandy when the Rockaways were heavily hit and the structure saw corrosion. As a result of the shutdown, the Rockaway (S) will operate as the (H) Train once again like it did just after Hurricane Sandy until late May 2013. In the shutdown from November 2012 to May 2013, the (H) Train operated between Rockaway Park-B 116 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av, running via Hammels Wye. What the 4 month shutdown will mean is that except for covering the (H) Train once, I will not be doing any runs in the NYC Subway until the suspension is lifted. This is when I am going to work on my driving lessons and on Wednesdays when I don’t have the lessons, it means that I will take AMTRAK down to DC and cover the Washington Metro since it is easy to get down to DC with AMTRAK and then cover the Subway there. When we get to the R179 (A) Train roundtrip towards Far Rockaway, I will talk about what I witnessed when going over the old South Channel Bridge.
