Shure VP83 LensHopper Camera Microphone - Unboxing & First Impressions

The Shure VP83 LensHopper is a camera shotgun condenser microphone used by popular YouTubers such as Casey Neistat. It retails for around $199 in the USA and around £179 in the UK.

I picked it up second hand from eBay for £114 delivered. It's in good condition and came with a Rycote Mini Windjammer that normally retails for around £30 in the UK so I've picked up a bargain in my opinion (for reference, the windjammer is the Rycote 055447)

Shotgun microphone for mounting on a DSLR camera or HD camcorder
Electret condenser cartridge with supercardioid / lobar polar pattern
Integrated shock mounting system that provides robust isolation from unwanted noise
Easily accessible controls at the back of the microphone: Three-position gain (-10 dB pad, 0, +20 dB boost) to compensate for different recording environments
Low-cut filter to eliminate background noise and room ambience
Includes VP83, battery, integrated cable, shoe mount, windscreen, and user guide
