Life of a Paraplegic | Mowing the Grass | How I Transfer | Transfer Fail

Hello everyone! It has been SO LONG since I have posted! I miss doing videos but life has me so busy lately. Today, I wanted to share with you how I am able to mow the grass. Before I got injured, I LOVED to mow the yard. I would push mow the entire thing for the exercise. Something about that instant gratification when I was finished. After being home I decided to try to get into the zero turn mower. Back then it took everyone in the house to get me on. And I had to use my slide board. It’s getting easier and easier as I find ways to manage and maneuver my body. I have a hard time getting up into the seat but I finally got it.

My little helper edges around everything for me so mowing is easier. I’m still not a professional or anything using a zero turn mower. But boy does it look good once we’re finished!

Make sure you stay until the end. No I did not hurt myself. It was only about 4” off the ground and I just sort of rolled. Hahaha. I tried to get back up by myself and struggled for a long time. I’m very stubborn and do NOT like to ask for help. But I finally gave in and let Alex help me.

I hope seeing these videos raise awareness to disabilities. Despite my disability, I still try to focus on what I CAN do instead of what I can’t. This life can still be beautiful for me and I choose to be happy for not only me but for my boys. I set the example to never give up. And it’s ok to laugh at yourself when you fall down!
