Carbon Power Conference: Soil performance in managed agricultural landscapes with Edward Scott

Edward Scott is the president of Soil Science Australia. He joined Michael Eyres at Field Systems in 2010, bringing his technical understanding of the critical role that soils contribute as the fundamental template for production systems to their farming clients. Ed specialises in the interpretation and assessment of soil, plant and water information and developing management strategies around key soil to plant relationships. His passion for improving soil productivity is the key motivation driving Ed to develop field management plans. He was a guest speaker during Conference Power 2022, leading an in-depth soil pit analysis as well as speaking in the conference room. Ed says the most valuable conversations can occur standing in a soil pit in someone’s paddock. “Looking at the layers in a soil pit helps put everything into context. Some soils have a huge amount of untapped potential, then others are already at capacity.”
