Warwickshire Hunt - Bruton Farm, Admington - Saturday 1st October 2023

We’re not sure what explanation Admington Parish Councillor Mark Davies has for why a group of riders surrounded a small wood on his land for 40 minutes whilst the hounds inside the wood spent that time almost constantly in cry. And why two foxes were seen running out of those woods. We hope Davies is aware that landowners who allow illegal hunting on their land are liable under Section 3 of the Hunting Act. As a Parish Councillor we would hope he has some sort of explanation as to what a hunt whose huntsman already has a conviction for illegal hunting was doing on his land. In the interests of transparency you can politely contact him and the council using links in the comments.

The Warwickshire Hunt have started using tactics previously used in the Barbra Hester days, trying to block sabs from filming their illegal activities. With sabs continuing to film damning videos of blatant hunting and dangerous anti-social behavior on roads and the hunt refusing to change it’s behavior, they have decided the best course of action is to try and stop their dangerous and illegal actions from being filmed in the first place. This didn’t work when Hester tried it and it wont work this time, all it will do is make the hunt look even more guilty. As we said a month ago just before the cub hunting season began the Warwickshire Hunt continues to be a very valuable asset to us in the run up to the general election.

Later in the day members of the hunt again tried to block us from filming this time as the hunt took over a road, they clearly know that what they are doing is wrong. Not long after this the hounds went off in-cry by themselves with some of them dangerously bursting out onto the road and into the path of an oncoming bus. As we have said before the only reason this dangerous behavior is continuing is because senior officers at Warwickshire Police have allowed it to happen and have given the Warwickshire Hunt the green light to do what they want.

As Mr Easter points out whilst a fox runs away from hounds behind his back, there were children present at this meet and at most hunt meets. A fox hunt is not a safe place for children. Unlike the main fox hunting season when the field master keeps most of the riders safely away from the huntsman, in cub hunting everyone participates. We have witnessed children being forced to participate in cub hunting surrounding woods with their parents and even slapping their saddles to frighten the fox back in. The fact that they are more likely to see foxes killed by the hounds during cub hunting raises some very serious safeguarding alarm bells. Seeing a fox ripped apart by hounds can be upsetting even as an adult so we can not imagine the psychological damage it could do to children. If you know of any parents forcing their children to go out hunting with them then please contact social services or a similar child safeguarding organisation such as the NSPCC. Not only is it extremely bad parenting but in our opinion it is child abuse forcing a child to participate in an organised criminal gang, mixing with terriermen and a huntsman with a previous conviction for hunting.
