DANCING On Ice star Libby Clegg had viewers crying their eyes out and even reduced judge Christopher Dean to tears with her performance tonight.  The Paralympian, who is registered blind, defied the odds and delivered a leaderboard-topping routine to Reet Petite by Jackie Wilson, scoring an impressive 28 out of 40.  During his critique Christoper choked up and was unable to speak as he reflected on what Libby, 29, had just done.  He said: "I've got a lump in my throat I have to say.  "I hope in your mind's eye you can see because it's... [trails off]."  And viewers were just as moved.  One wrote: "Crying my eyes out watching Libby and Mark skate on Dancing on ice. What an absolute inspiration!!!!"  Another posted: "Why am I literally tearing up watching Libby and Mark?! I can’t walk in a straight line sometimes and Libby is dancing on ice BLIND!!! Actually incredible!!"  While a third shared: "Libby was just amazing!! Like ice skating isn’t hard enough, dancing on ice is hard enough, but dancing on ice when you are visually impaired is just phenomenal!! Just amazing!! #DancingOnIce."  The sportswoman has a deteriorating condition in her eyes called Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy.  She only has relative peripheral vision in her left eye and is registered as blind.  The talented athlete has represented both Scotland and Great Britain throughout her career.  She is best known for being a part of Team GB at the 2008 Summer Paralympics where she won the silver medal for the T12 100 metre race - a feat she repeated at London 2012.  She went on to win two golds in Rio at the 2016 Paralympic Games, one in the 100m T11 and a second in T11 200m.  It was there that she broke the world record for the 200 metres.  Among her many accolades, in 2017 Libby was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours list for her services to athletics and charity.  She has been engaged to fiancé Dan Powell since 2017.  In October 2018 the couple announced they were expecting their first child.  And in April 2019 she gave birth to their son Edward.  Got a story? email [email protected] or call us direct on 02077824220.  We pay for videos too.
