What Will the Post-Pandemic Future Hold? with Fintan O'Toole

Описание к видео What Will the Post-Pandemic Future Hold? with Fintan O'Toole

Irish Times columnist Fintan O’Toole returns to Galway International Arts Festival's First Thought Talks series for a conversation with talks curator Catriona Crowe. https://www.giaf.ie/talks

In this talk, O'Toole, who has long written about fractured structures and potential change, discusses how the COVID–19 pandemic has exposed deep fractures in many countries in how we organise our societies, our capacity to care for our most vulnerable citizens and the systems that govern our lives.

Some of us hope for change in these systems when we finally escape COVID’s clutches. Will the dreadful death toll, the economic devastation and the obvious deficiencies in our public services encourage or force us to explore other options? How will Ireland react to the potential lessons to be learned from what we have been through?
