“The Greek diaspora is the strength of the Greeks” said Byron Nicolaides, Founder and CEO – PeopleCert and President of the Council of European Professional Informatics Society (CEPIS) at the 23rd Roundtable with the Government of Greece, organised by the Economist.
Mr Nicolaides, born and raised in Constantinople, pointed out that Greek communities abroad can help the country and contribute to a better understanding between Greece and the countries where the communities reside. The focal point of Greeks abroad is the Orthodox Church, Mr Nicolaides said and stressed that Greece should take into account the Greek diaspora when designing its foreign policy which should reflect continuity and consistency. Regarding the economic activity of the Greek diaspora in Greece, he highlighted the importance or meritocracy but also the need to reduce the over-regulated Greek market.
