Waders on the Move

On recent visits to Bolsa Chica Wildlife Refuge (Huntington Beach - 31 August 2024) and Robb Field (San Diego River - 30 August 2024) the wetlands were active with waders. The genus Egretta includes four species; Tricolored Heron, Reddish Egret, Little Blue Heron and Snowy Egret. This video highlights the first three species. The Tricolored Heron and Reddish Egret are especially fun to watch, but can be a challenge to try to get video footage with their quick pirouetting and fast-paced footwork. The Little Blue Heron, on the other hand, takes a more leisurely approach to foraging. Hope you enjoy!
