Actress Daryl Hannah has been roasted online for her off-script political statement during the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday.

The Kill Bill star approached the stage to announce the award for best film in editing before going off-script in support of Ukraine.

As Hannah began the segment, she said, “Slava Ukraini”, which translates to “Glory to Ukraine”.

The actress's statement led to a loud chorus of cheers from the crowd, however, her statement was not celebrated on X.

Social media users were quick to criticise Hannah for her political statement, with one user labelling the actress “out of touch”.

“Hey, look another out of touch celebrity talking about politics at an award show. This may be why nobody wants to watch the Oscars anymore,” wrote one user.
