Powerslave on the Sega Saturn

Описание к видео Powerslave on the Sega Saturn

In 1996 Lobotomy Software released Powerslave for the Sega Saturn. It was my favorite FPS for years, and here, I talk a little bit about why.

Episode Notes:

1. Everything running on real hardware.

2. I have no clue who owns the Powerslave IP now. I'd love to see a sequel or remake of it.

3. The Saturn US version is really expensive. The European and Japanese version are much cheaper.

4. This game does support analog control on the Saturn. Unfortunately, no such support is included on the Playstation.

5. I do not recommend using the level select cheat on the console versions. It breaks the flow of the game, and can lead to intense frustration since you do not have the proper items to actual finish most of the stages.

6. DOSBOX will play the PC version, but I ran into some serious bugs while playing. Some made it completely unplayable.

7. You have to actually finish a stage for the auto save to kick in and save the stuff you find. If you die in the stage, you lose everything you gained since the last auto save.

8. Right before the studio was closed, Lobotomy had started outlining Powerslave 2. Unfortunately, it was never meant to be.
