GarageBand for iOS: Individuality with Sounds and Rhythms

We all know how good GarageBand for iOS is. You can get started with music without theoretical knowledge, and ideas can take shape very quickly.

There will come a time though, where you don't want to use the sounds on offer without any adjustment - it'll become obvious that it's a GarageBand song, rather than your song. Someone may deride you for using "free software". I'm not in that camp though - it's about the musical idea, rather than the software.

This is where merging, dragging rhythms slightly and EQing really help with fitting your specification.

Here, I've used the Nu-Disco drums and mashed them up by separating kick, snare and hats, and treating each instrument separately. Also merging the bass and electric piano sounds to further remove them from iOS defaults gives extra timbre.

This is what is so good about GarageBand for iOS - Apple gives you OPTIONS and also complete freedom with your sounds and rhythmic inflections, especially with drums. You just have to employ little tricks and procedures to realise the final destination.
