Gross Vehicle Mass - 4WD Outback Travel Trip Preparation 2/3

Gross Vehicle Mass is the maximum weight allowable of the vehicle with all fuel, driver and payload on board. It is imperative this weight is not exceeded to ensure safe operation of the vehicle. During preparations for a trip around Australia, I load up my vehicle and head to a public weighbridge.

I find I will exceed GVM when fully loaded for the most remotest parts of my trip, so seek to reduce vehicle weight to get under legal weight again. This was achieved by removing my Mulgo side rails, converting to a lithium ion LiFePO4 battery and reducing travel gear.

This preparation is for my upcoming 2018 4x4 trip around Australia.
