Liverpool were chasing Everton at the top to the table as the season neared its end. Norwich City were in a creditable 6th place in their first season back in the top division and finally finished in 5th. It would have been good enough for a place in Europe, had English teams not been banned.

I was standing in the River End for this game and the place went crazy when Kevin Drinkell hit the winner, two minutes from the end.
