How To Improve Your Vocabulary

Here are three tips to help you practice learning vocabulary. Tip number one, learn in groups. For example, if you're learning about a phone, learn what material this is. What is this called? What is this on the side? Learning in groups is great because it helps us remember the words that we learn. Tip number two are bubble maps. Bubble maps are great because we have to write things down. When we write things down, it helps us learn. But let me show you what a bubble map is first. Start by writing down the main word and circle it. Then write a related word and connect it to the first. Write five or six words related to the first main word. This is great because you're learning in groups, you're writing it down, and your brain is making visual connections. And speaking of visual connections, here's tip number three. Learn with pictures. Our mind actually links words to pictures and it helps us remember things much more effectively. It's, it's a wonderful way of studying vocabulary. But now that you have learned those tips, let me tell you how you can really make the words stick in your memory. Use the words you learn in phrases. Remember the phone? Right? So, the front of the phone is made of glass. You can plug your phone in using the port on the bottom. The case is made of plastic and rubber. You're using these words that you learned in phrases and you're connecting everything together.
