Fly Fishing San Gabriel Mountains for Wild Trout (Los Angeles County)

The past two years of rainy winters has filled up our local Los Angeles mountains and brought the native trout population back with a bang! Almost every stream, creek and tributary in the San Gabriel mountains was holding fish this Spring and they were all healthy and hungry. After a particularly good day fishing on Mother's Day, I headed out with my trusty dry-dropper to document this fantastic fishing so you could see for yourself how special our local mountains are. This is some of the best small stream fishing I've ever had and it was all less than an hour from home!
Remember to always fish barbless, practice catch-and-release and please pack out your trash (and others) if you see it. Keep our wild places wild!
