Brioche Knitting Series - Inserting and Working With a Lifeline

Описание к видео Brioche Knitting Series - Inserting and Working With a Lifeline

This is part seven of a seven part series on brioche knitting.

This part demonstrates two ways of inserting a lifeline into your work, either deliberately in anticipation of making a mistake (i.e. in intervals) or after-the-fact when you happen to notice a mistake in your work (in the row just before the mistake).

I demonstrate this on a flat piece of two-color brioche knitting that has a salvage edge on each side. I used an Italian tubular cast-on. This style of casting on is demonstrated within this series. This same technique may also be translated to circular knitting in the round.

Inserting a lifeline in a row of stitches allows you to safely remove your main knitting needle and "rip" the stitches down to the lifeline. In essence, a lifeline acts as a needle not allowing any of the stitches to move beyond that point. Once you have reached the lifeline, it is easy to then place the stitches back onto a smaller gauge needle allowing to to then knit them back onto your normal sized needle and to then commence with your project. Don't live with a mistake or start all over. Use lifelines in your work!

Thank you for your feedback! This video will take the place of any prior video on "lifelines."
