Canon EOS R | RF 35mm f1.8 | Worth it in 2021? | Cinematic Review | Not R5

After watching some camera reviews deep diving firmware updates, bit rates, frame rates, image quality, AF performance, color etc. I found myself in a loop that doesn't get me anywhere.

I asked myself a simple question.

"Can I just go outside and enjoy a short hike without thinking any of this unnecessary information occupying my brain?"

This video is exactly what happened after that. I used my good old EOS R which is a mediocre camera on paper. Yes it is not the R5 or R6. I don't think we even got an important firmware update on EOS R recently.

Does it have the best image quality? No
Doest it have the best Bit Depth? No
Does it have the best AF performance? No
Does it have the best Dynamic Range? No

But, sometimes none of these matter to me. Imperfection makes me focus more on life and the moment. None of these videos are getting delivered to Netflix. I get exactly what I need; a comfortable camera that doesn't break the bank and gives me some solid video footage.

Don't get me wrong my nerdy side is always on the look out for the greatest and best equipment available. I usually spend countless hours watching camera tests, reviews etc. But in the end the moment comes and I start creating. And in my experience sometimes using gear with limitations make the shooting experience more fun.

So this is a different kind of review. I will not talk about any technical details.
Think it as a small video to reflect a fun afternoon spent in nature.

I love the EOS R. I think it is more than enough for me. And anytime I say this, someone comments sth like this: "But it is 8-Bit." I know it is 8-Bit and yes that would be nice to have 10-Bit. But hey! Let me try what I can do with 8-Bit first. Maybe it is not the end of the world :)

I will be using EOS R for 2 upcoming trips.
