"Think growing fennel is difficult? Think again! Fennel thrives in a sunny spot with well-drained soil rich in micronutrients and microbes. Aim for a pH above six point five. You can enhance these conditions by mixing in compost and planting mix. Being a perennial, fennel can be planted in either spring or fall. Sow regular fennel seeds or plant young seedlings about two feet apart. If you're planting Florence fennel, sow seeds in shallow drills one and a half feet apart in spring, and thin out the seedlings to around eight to ten inches apart. It's crucial to keep your plants weed-free and water them when the soil begins to dry out. Regular trimming will encourage continuous growth of fresh young leaves.
