BPIS, pulse power supply unitsA power supply unit is a device which produces the voltage needed for the operation of different equipment. Usually power supply units convert a standard voltage into a preset dc voltage.There are two types of power supply units: pulse and transformer PSU. Pulse power supply units are mainly used in the devices which require a small power supply with good current output, voltage output, and pulse absence, i.e. for the connection of portable devices to various electric current sources. They are often used in laptop and PC supply.AC input voltage is rectified in pulse power supply units and then converted in rectangular pulses of a higher frequency. The pulses are supplied either to a transformer or directly to an output filter of a low frequency.A degenerative feedback is used to stabilize voltage in pulse power supply units. It allows maintaining a relatively stable level of output voltage independent from input voltage oscillations or load intensity.A feedback can be organized in several ways.In case of pulse power supply units with a galvanic isolation from the mains, the most spread way is using connection by means of one of transformer output windings or an optron. If the isolation is not required, a simple resistive ratio device is usually used which ensures a stable output voltage.Light weight, high efficiency (up to 90-98%) and a wide range of supply voltage and frequency are the main advantages of pulse power supply units. All pulse power supply units have a short circuit protection, thermal and overload protection.BPIS pulse power supply units are produced in plastic and metal cases.A nominal load current of BPIS can be selected in the range from 2 to 10A, and a stabilized output voltage will vary from 5 to 24V.
