Fife kept their play-off hopes alive with a penalty shot win against Braehead their first in the league this season. But they almost threw the game away after going into a three goal lead they allowed Braehead right back into it as the home side hit four without reply. A leveller from the Flyers with two minutes remaining saw the game go into overtime and then a penalty shootout.

In front of a sell-out crowd there was end to end action in the opening period as both teams went all out to get the opening goal. However, both goaltenders were in fine form and were keeping the score line blank. That was until the visitors opened the scoring with a powerplay goal from Danny Stewart at 17.09 to take a one goal lead in at the break.

Casey Haines with the Flyers second powerplay goal of the game 24.31 double the visitor's advantage and when Stephen Gunn scored at 36.29 they were looking good for the win. With 11 seconds of the second period remaining Lee Esders got the Clan s opening goal.

There was only a goal between the teams as Neill Trimm scored at 42.33. The arena erupted in the 47th minute as the home side netted twice with goals from Matt Towe and Kenton Smith on the powerplay to give them a 4-3 lead. They looked as though they were going to hold onto their lead until Derek Roehl with two minutes remaining got the equalising goal for the Flyers that sent the game into overtime. Neither team could find the winner in overtime and the game was decided by a penalty shootout. In the six shots that followed only Ned Lukacevic was successful and that gave his team the precious extra point.
