Speed reducer for a sewing machine with a double pulley.

This is my take on a speed reducer for a vintage Japanese all-metal sewing machine to make it run slower and with more torque. I am using a double pulley and the gear ratio is about 2.5 to 1. I designed the 3d printed double pulley from scratch and based on the dimensions of the groove in the handwheel. I had it manufactured by Shapeways (for about $30). Shapeways makes beautiful, precise, and strong parts. I made the two aluminum brackets with a vice, a saw, a drill, and a hammer. Added some bronze spray paint to match the look of the machine a bit better. It took some fiddling around with prototypes made from wood, cardboard and aluminum before the geometry was right.
