Amtrak Railfanning in Philadelphia, PA! 8.5.2024

On this day, I decided to take a trip into Philly to see what was going on in Race Street.

There were a few cool things in the yard, including some ALC-42’s and the HHP8-C’s.

After a quick look at the yard, I took the SEPTA up to North Philadelphia for about 30 minutes to see some trains. To my surprise, a Norfolk Southern freight train came thru, with 3 locomotives up front and one on the year. There was also a northbound Acela that nearly struck a trespasser.

On my way home, I returned to Race Street Yard to see that the ACS-64 Veterans Unit had made its way into the yard after being pulled off the rear end of Northeast Regional 185.

Overall, not a bad day.
