Petoskey Stone polished on Cabking // A Michigan Fossil

Let's fire up our 8" cabking lapidary polishing unit and polish up one of Michigan's fossils, the notorious "Petoskey Stone". This beautiful fossil was given to my by ‪@MichiganRocks‬and I take about an hour and a half to polish this beautiful fossil, to the best of my ability and what the stone will allow me to with its natural flaws. Petoskey stone is a fossil rock formed from the remains of the rugose coral Hexagonaria percarinata. These corals are believed to have existed before the dinosaurs and thrived during a time when a warm, shallow sea covered a large part of the Great Lakes region.
