Lundy Island - the UK's first Marine Protected Area

Описание к видео Lundy Island - the UK's first Marine Protected Area

Lundy Island, just off the North Devon coast, is a unique marine habitat home to a whole host of creatures. Norse for "puffin island", Lundy is not only a haven for seabirds, but for its famous Atlantic Grey Seals.

In this short film, we get a glimpse of the wildlife above and below the surface of the water, and hear about how the protection of Lundy's waters has allowed some very special creatures to thrive.

Lundy is one of Seaful's destinations for our Vitamin Sea Project - in 2022 we will take our first groups to Lundy island to experience the amazing underwater world and protected waters of Lundy island for themselves! Our snorkelling trips are aimed at young people who otherwise might not have the chance to experience the ocean in this way, to allow them to not only learn about the ocean on their doorstep, but to find their own personal connection to the sea.
