Resolving a conflict in an assertive way is like baking a cake, we must follow a few steps to make it perfect. First, we have to recognize that there is a conflict and identify what it is in order to be able to deal with it; then we listen and consider the points of view of all those involved. From there, we propose solutions and based on them, we can reason and negotiate to find common ground. Then we can make decisions and put them into action. Finally, we should take time to reflect and see what we can learn from this experience. It is important that children understand that they do not have to do this whole process alone. Depending on the conflict they have and with whom, it is important to know how to turn to an adult for help.
