Replaces original retard with vacuum advance on distributor. In theory car will run cooler. Get better miles per gallon. Feel a little peppier. Idle should smooth out also. Your spark plugs will foul less and be better color. Check them again after a few drives.

Your distributor Mechanical advance should be recurved to 9 to 10 degrees and Must be connected to ported vacuum.

Distributors with retard are Lucas 41352. 41385. 41558. Replaces retard units 54400201 54423098 54429013 54424200.

I briefly go into setting timing via vacuum method and syncing carbs and checking mixture.

This was done on 1976 TR6. USA.

Part 2 shows me RE clocking distributor which I was hoping I wouldn’t need to do. But it for sure needed it. My tach stopped working very soon and cable was binding. I left disconnected for months to avoid damage to gauge or distributor fear. It’s fixed now. See part 2.
