Life Technologies is revolutionizing precast agarose gel electrophoresis. Again.

This time we're making agarose gel documentation and analysis personal with the E-Gel® Imager System. The E-Gel® Imager System combines the power of a large, complex gel imaging system with the sleek footprint and affordability of a benchtop device. Not only is the E-Gel® Imager the perfect solution for documenting any Invitrogen™ E-Gel® precast agarose gel, it's great for self-cast gels as well.

There are three components to the E-Gel® Imager System: a set of interchangeable bases, a camera hood, and a software package. Each component alone has individual strengths, and combined they offer exceptional flexibility and power to capture and analyze images of your agarose gels.

The first component of the E-Gel® Imager System is a choice of three interchangeable bases. The blue-light base provides strong, uniform visible blue-light transillumination that can be used to excite innovative SYBR® dyes like those found in E-Gel® EX gels or in SYBR® Safe stain. Next, there's the UV light base, best for traditional ethidium bromide-stained gels. Finally, there's the E-Gel® adaptor base.

The E-Gel® adaptor base allows real-time visualization and documentation of E-Gel® agarose gels run on the E-Gel® iBase™ platform with the E-Gel® Safe Imager, or E-Gel® Go! quick-check gels run on the E-Gel® Go! System. Power is supplied to either system by a power cord within the base, so there's no chance of external light entering the system and distorting your results. With the adaptor base, you can document real-time progress of your E-Gel® runs like never before.

The E-Gel® Imager camera hood houses a high-resolution, scientific-grade digital camera that drives the exceptional performance of the E-Gel® Imager System. Most of the controls for image acquisition are within the gel documentation software. However, there are two physical dials on the front of the camera hood that can be used to control the iris and focus of the unit.

Interchangeable filters allow even greater flexibility to capture images of various gel stains. The orange-hued "universal" filter is a good choice for most applications, but it can be replaced with a green filter that is optimal for visualizing SYBR® stains when using UV transillumination. There's also a red-hued filter for use with Molecular Probes® QDot® 625 products.

The final component of the E-Gel® Imager System is the software duo, consisting of a program for gel documentation and a second program for image analysis. These programs are full-featured and allow documentation, analysis, and quantitation of your results. To learn more about the software component of the E-Gel® Imager System, please visit http://www.invitrogen.com/egelimager.

The E-Gel® Imager System is the perfect solution for documenting and analyzing your agarose gel results. To learn more and order the innovative E-Gel® Imager System or other E-Gel® products, please visit our website at http://www.invitrogen.com/egels, or contact your local sales representative.
