What advice do you have for those just starting their careers in HR?

Understand HR best practices and employment law so you can be an asset to your company, but also be patient with yourself. A lot of the experience and confidence you need to grow your career comes with time; the opportunities will present themselves. Take those stretch assignments, and take the time to evaluate the processes and results so you can continue to grow and refine your skills.

Be aware that every generation has its own set of needs, but ultimately, people are people. They want to be treated well, grow and advance, provide for their loved ones, and find a balance between work and life.
