The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, particularly through the use of AI-powered medical scribes, marks a transformative shift from traditional doctor-patient interactions. These technological advancements promise to enhance administrative efficiency and allow physicians more time with their patients. However, the implementation of such technology raises significant concerns regarding patient privacy, the oversight of AI applications, and the preservation of the fundamental trust and empathy that characterize the doctor-patient relationship. Addressing these issues necessitates a collaborative approach among all stakeholders, including clinicians, patients, and executives, to ensure that the deployment of AI in healthcare enhances patient care without compromising privacy or the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Mason currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Founder for Little Medical School, an award-winning educational organization and franchise with offices in more than 60 locations worldwide focusing on healthcare workforce development. She is an Adjunct Professor of Law and the Associate Director for the Cordell Institute for Policy in Medicine & Law at Washington University in St. Louis where she focuses on patient privacy and cybersecurity issues in artificial intelligence and emerging heatlhcare technologies. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
