Building a Pirate Ship & Scuba Diving in Bira | Indonesia | Phinisi

In today’s episode I explore the last part of Sulawesi. The home of the Phinisi, a wooden sailing schooner that is handcrafted in this small fishing village in Indonesia. Bira in Sulawesi

Tanah Beru is name of the town where the wooden Phinisi ships are built from iron wood and teak materials and groups of highly skilled craftsmen work very hard to create these masterpieces. The Bugis people of bira.

In this southern cape of Sulawesi island are the Bugis people. And the epicentre is Bira.

I find out how they are built along the beach in bira and I am lucky to see a boat being launched!

After we both see this incredible sight of the Phinisi ship being built we head to Bira’s best beach, Bara beach.

This is where blue planet dive resort is located and from there we head to the most underrated diving location I’ve ever been too, eagle rock in Pulau Kambing (goat island) that’s located between bira cape and Selaya island. This is the best scuba diving I’ve been to in Sulawesi and definitely worth visiting if you like scuba diving with string currents.
