Kathy Bergen breaks the Masters track&field world record for the female age 85 with this performance at Moorpark, CA College on June 7, 2025. In this video, Kathy clears 1.05m or 3'5", breaking her previous record of 1.02m. Kathy also broke the female 85+ world record in the 100 meters at the USA Track&Field Masters National Championships in 2025.

After breaking the record, Kathy shares some secrets about her training regimen, which features short sprints and recovery and a minimum of high jump practice due to the high impact nature of the event. Most people would be astonished how difficult it is to clear your entire body over a high jump bar, and Kathy is setting a new standard for what's possible in the older age groups.

Kathy only started competing at age 54 and has numerous world records in the various age categories up to age 85.
