Backroad Trails presents Box Canyon Road in southern Arizona.

This road begins south of the town of Sahuarita, parallels the north side of the Santa Rita Mountains, and winds through the Coronado National Forest. The road ends with State Route 83 in Arizona wine country just north of Sonoita.

The road passes Madera Canyon, a popular hiking and birding destination that features four life zones and is home to more than 250 species of bird. The road intersects the Arizona National Scenic Trail as we pass oak and cottonwood trees in open grasslands.
