When kidneys stop working properly, it affects bone strength, leading to pain in the back, knees, and other areas. Kidneys are responsible for activating the vitamin D we get from food or sunlight. Without proper activation, vitamin D cannot strengthen bones, even if it is present in the body. This leads to weak bones, increased pain, and higher risk of bone damage.

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬

When kidneys fail, phosphorus levels in the blood rise because it is not being removed properly. Phosphorus replaces calcium in the bones, making them soft and weak. This results in continuous body and joint pain, commonly seen in kidney failure patients.

𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞

Doctors recommend adding active forms of vitamin D (like Rocaltrol/Calcitriol) and controlled calcium to strengthen bones. Phosphorus binders are also prescribed to prevent phosphorus from entering the blood and damaging bones further. Following the prescription helps in reducing bone pain and prevents further weakness.
