After being taken on a tour of some of the psychedelic realms, you feel a surge of discomfort and anxiety coursing through your body. “Is this the peak? Am I going crazy? Am I having a heart attack? What’s going on? Where am I? Who are you? HELP!” These are all thoughts you have while being faced with what feels like cement bricks of negative emotions being thrown at your abdomen. Movement three is meant to portray a “bad trip” one may experience on mushrooms (or any psychedelics). Measures 130 to 158 are actually the original ideas that inspired many ideas in the symphony that will be heard in previous movements and fourth movement. The ending tutti impact of this movement should be overwhelming, but should not be the peak of the symphony if the fourth movement is played.
